FunkeySynth 0.12 for Harmattan

It was time to tag version 0.12. Most significant changes:
– A better-looking icon
– Envelope controls (attack, decay, sustain, release)
– Volume control
– LFO (Low-Frequency Oscillator) with frequency&amplitude controls

Bugs that need to be fixed:
– Occasional crashes when playing the keyboard fast
– Start app -> Bend on -> Press a key -> Note keeps playing
– Robustness to the keyboard (sometimes they get stuck)

thnkx for devoloping apps for meego but i was wondering if you can port it to symbian since its easy to port qt apps

Actually in this case, porting it is unfortunately not that easy..
-I’m using PortAudio as the audio backend. AFAIK, PortAudio doesn’t exist for Symbian
-So the whole audio backend would have to be changed, that’s doable but a bit of a hazzle (playing around with DevSound in Symbian is a real treat..)

OK!!!! This is the best news I have read in a whole week or two.

I was praying, that some one would start working on a synth for these phones. I got really fascinated with N9, as I noticed that among other things, it contains a pretty robust DSP processor and it made me think about the limits of mobile synths. I read somewhere, that Korgs still current analog modelling synth, the Radias, uses similar DSP, than Nokia N800 and N9’s DSP should be many times more powerful. Even an idea of having that kind of power in my pocket makes me go hopping crazy and producing synth like sounds with my armpit to everyone’s amazement!

Are you using the DSP in any way, or have you even thought about it? What ever the case, it already looks good. Many, many thanks!!!

Hi and thanks for your msg!

Using the DSP (+ARM optimizations) is in the todo list at some point.
There are features & bugfixes that are first in my list before it’s time
to think about the optimization part. But yeah, the target is to have
a fully optimized version some time in the future : )
